Outside Sales Manager

Job Summary

Behrens Manufacturing, a trusted U.S. producer of high-quality metal containers and home goods since 1911, is seeking a driven and results-oriented Outside Sales Manager to lead our efforts in acquiring new retail customers. This role is perfect for a motivated sales professional with a hunter’s mindset, strong retail industry connections, and a passion for opening new doors.

The Outside Sales Manager will be responsible for identifying, targeting, and closing new business with major regional and national retailers. You will work closely with internal teams (marketing, operations and customer service) to build strategic selling propositions
and ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and pursue new sales opportunities with key retail buyers and category managers.
• Develop and manage a strong pipeline of leads through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and trade shows.
• Conduct high-impact sales presentations and product pitches tailored to each prospect’s assortment needs and market position.
• Build relationships with retail decision-makers across lawn & garden, hardware, farm/ranch, and home storage categories.
• Collaborate with marketing to create retail-specific materials and promotions that support new customer acquisition.
• Stay current on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging retail opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities in CRM (Pipedrive) and provide regular sales forecasts and reporting.

Preferred Experience

• Existing relationships with major retailers (e.g., Ace Hardware, The Home Depot, Target, etc.)
• Experience with hardgoods, home improvement, or outdoor living categories.
• Familiarity with EDI, retail compliance requirements, and merchandising support practices.
• Success using prospecting tools such as SalesIntel and Linked In.
